Being the Reunion photographer was a everything I thought it would be. I met incredible people and got to pacify my travel bug (for awhile). We voyaged from Nassau to San Juan and back. I gave myself a gold star when it came to getting my sea legs since I was loaded down with camera equipment swaying back and forth while transversing the halls and floors of the ship!
One of my favorite days was spent the day in Old San Juan. I did a enrichment trip with the students to a Bomba workshop where we learned the roots of salsa dancing and music. I spent the rest of the day visiting the ancient forts, enjoying a leisurely lunch, shopping and of course, photographing everything in sight.
I loved being surrounded by all the students who were reunited for this trip; some after only a year but others close to 40 years. The atmosphere was full of joy, nostalgia and celebration. After all, these students and faculty were like family to one another after spending several months simultaneously in close quarters while also experiencing the world together. I can't imagine a better way to earn some college credits and get an education.
Hope to return to the ship soon…maybe longer than a week-long trip next time.
